It has been clarified from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) that science courses  in Biotechnology do not require the approval of Govt of India i.e. AICTE. Therefore, Biotechnology course like  M.Sc (Biotechnology), M.Sc (Bioinformatics), M.Sc (Medical Biotechnology) and B.Sc (Hons) Biotechnology are being introduced in TACT School of Biotech Sciences as science courses duly approved from Govt of Orissa with affiliation of Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.

Whereas in 2005-06 session, 60 seats have been sanctioned in B.Tech (Biomedical Engineering) in Trident Academy of Technology (TAT), the School of Biotech Sciences of TACT had 80 seats in B.Sc (Hons) Biotechology, 64 seats in M.Sc (Biotechnology) and 32 seats in M.Sc (Bioinformatics). In 2006-07, in addition to the above, the engineering college may have B.Tech (Biotechnology) and TACT may introduce Medical Biotechnology.
