History of
placements
The current trend for
recruitment of MCA graduates in Orissa is through
“Pooled Campus”. Recruiting companies are conducting
campus-recruitment drives either through their own HR
departments or through some recruitment consultants for
the students of B.Tech and MCA together.
Usually good companies
paying annual salary of above Rs.2 lakhs now require
the aspiring candidates to have 60% marks in their
Class-X, Class-XII(+2 Sc) and each of the semesters
without having any back paper at any point.
Continued mails come to
the MCA college of Trident to sponsor names of the
eligible candidates for such pooled recruitment events
taking place at a single designated common place at
Bhubaneswar and the college has been consistently
sending the eligible candidates to such events.
Apart from the above, the
faculty in-charge of placement Mr. M.R. Chowdhury has
been consistently helping other students (Who are not
found eligible for such pooled events) to get the
required initial employment, so as to gather about 2 yrs
of experience eventually to
join good companies laterally. Some students have also
made their own efforts by acquiring further soft skills
in places like Hyderabad, Bangalore and have made it
completely on their own to lucrative positions in good
companies.
Plan
from 1/7/2007
The first B.Tech batch of
the engineering college “Trident Academy of Technology”
will pass out in 2009 and will face the recruiters in
campus drives around March 2008. Similarly, MCA students
who have joined Trident in 2005 & 2006 will face the
recruiters in March 2008. For a joint coordination of
good placements of B.Tech and MCA students, a central
placement cell has been set up directly under the
management of Trident Group. The present officers who
are individually acting for Biotechnology and MCA will
now report to a new Director (Placement) in this central
cell.
After conducting careful
interviews, Sri Shantanu Satpathy has been chosen as the
Director of this cell who will report to the management
through Mrs. P. Mishra, the management’s representative
in all the Trident institutions. Sri Satpathy’s brief CV
can be seen by clicking here.
In addition to interacting
with HR departments of all the prospective companies Sri
Satpathy will manage the communication labs and all
other pre-placement training activities from July 2007
for the aforesaid campus recruitments.
The MCA college has also
thought of an innovative idea of Alumni interaction.
Since the college has a very strong MCA Alumni, regular
winter meets for Trident Alumni have been planned from
the winter of 2007. Here about more than 100 ex-MCA
students of Trident group who are well placed on jobs
will interact with the present students and help them
with useful tips for securing good jobs after MCA.
(Particularly helpful for students not having 60%
consistent career)
