The concept of finishing school in Orissa was pioneered by Trident Group in 1995. As one of the early ventures, the group set up the software finishing school under the company TSPL. Interestingly, the name of the school that time was also TACT, but it read as “Trident Advanced Computer Training”. Fresh engineering graduates of Orissa and some working engineers (who showed interest) were trained intensively on the advanced softwares like SYBASE, POWERBUILDER, ORACLE, DB-2, JCL etc and with the knowledge gained in the finishing school, there was obvious value addition to the engineers who could readily procure jobs in the overseas markets.
The finishing school was not very active between 1998 and 2006 i.e. during U.S lull in software sector. With effect from
January 2008 however the finishing school is being planned to be revamped and with the already proven expertise in the field, this will again get onto the top gear on advanced software training to B.Tech & MCA pass-outs.
