Dr.
(Mrs) Kalpana Dash
DEAN, School of Biotech Sciences
Dr.
Kalpana Dash is an accomplished scholar
and has more than 18 years of significant
contribution in various fields of research
and teaching in Biotechnology. She has
done her Ph.D from Vallabh Bhai Patel
Chest Institute, Delhi under the guidance
of Dr. Kunal Saha, Ex-HOD, Deptt of Allergy
and Immunology VPCI and Dr. S.V. Gangal,
Ex-Director CBT (Centre for Biochemical
Technology) CSIR.
Her
area of work is Molecular Immunology and
she has carried out an extensive research
work on fish lectins and their relations
to phylogeny of immune responses. She
has made significant contributions in
the isolation, purification and characterization
of fish lectins & correlated its role
in defense. Receptor binding mechanism
of this lectin on RBCs is a first-of-its
kind report which was published in leading
international journals. To her credit,
she studied the histopathological and
immunological changes occurring at lymphoid
organs in response to Gamma Ray irradiation
at 'INMAS' Delhi involving Electron Microscopical
studies at Institute of pathology, Delhi.
She
has also worked on Sexual transmitted
diseases on leprosy sera and studied the
prevalence of AIDS in various promiscuous
groups under ICMR funded scheme.
Her
post doctoral work was as a pool scientist
of CSIR in CIFA, Bhubaneswar in the area
of pesticide effect on immune responses
on aquatic organism.
To
her credit, she has more than 15 publications
on various national and international
journals.
